The Quiet Tenant
by Clémence Michallon

I loved this book. I love how it was told by the women involved and how it switched between them. The format was super cool and unlike any other mystery I have read. Highly recommended.

Finished. Half-read/half-listened to the audio book. For a second read through, will say just as enjoyable as the first time.

Tina Brown raved about this book in the NYT. I don't know if I share her enthusiasm so far. The narrative can drag. You would think with the authors' backgrounds as educators and academics, they would know how to make th Best to take her endorsement with a grain of salt. She's not a historian, but an expert of British royal scandals (and acclaimed Vanity Fair editor, etc, etc). As a writer she tends to prioritize readability than nuance. Look at the way I can see her doing the same when reviewing this book.

Wonderful story. The minds of these infants come alive and one can’t help but contemplate their own existence at that same age.

Iron Flame

A lot of the “tension” in this book is a little repetitive, a lot of tropes that are found in a lot of literature. I don’t dislike the series, but it’s definitely overhyped, I think realistic expectations on her books will lead to more enjoyment.

Like any other popular fantasy book, the reader must be willing to suspend skepticism and logic. They must accept that the writing can be middling, if not pedantic. But, once they do, the experience is fun and worth it.

Both the first and the second graphic novel bring a lot to the table. Artwork gorgeous. Characters show so much growth. Surprises and a great plot. Can’t wait to continue this series.

Romance, mystery, magic, science, unpredictable plot lines- basically all the ingredients for something amazing. I am obsessed. The book reads from 7 different view points but I never wished I was reading from one perspective over another. I am extremely grateful I read this now, not when it first came out, so I can immediately start book 2.

I was disappointed that the Julia Fox who co-wrote this book was not the same person as the actress and NY socialite. From a cursory glance, the book is promising. The authors or editors (bless both of them) included citations.

Chase Me

This book feels like it’s early it Tessa writings. I enjoyed the book, but it doesn’t have the depth that her newer books have.
